Buyer Beware Warning on Ebay to Trollbeads Collectors
From time to time when we find an offering on an auction site that has desceptive language concerning Trollbeads, we want to share this information with you so you aren't misled.
These sellers threaten the value of our collections and the future of our product.
boutiqueitaliana is an Ebay seller that uses the word "Trollbeads" and offers conterfeit Trollbeads to the extent of even using the same name for the beads. For an example the gold Endless bead they offer is made of 18K gold plate.These beads are inferior and are not an authentic Trollbeads product. They use the words "Trollbeads" and "Authentic" and even uses Trollbeads logo phrase "Every Story has a Bead". Please don't be fooled. We think there are laws to protect the consumer but with Ebay and with dealers the dealers on Ebay, this isn't always the case. Let us know if you have ever been sold imposter Trollbeads. I see many bracelets in my gallery with proud owners telling how they bought a certain Trollbead on Ebay and when I look, it's not a Trollbead at all.
If you love lampwork beads and want to purchase them for their uniqueness and beauty-then buy!! The artists that make these generally sell on Etsy.

Trollbeads 2008, A Year in Review
January 4, 2009 Happy New Year!I recently was asked to write an article on the current position of Trollbeads in the market. I am including it in the blog for anyone's interest.
Trollbeads 2008 : A Report
Trollbeads hits the mainstream with steam and keeps on growing!
Trollbeads is a line of interchangeable jewelry hailing from Denmark. Their long 30 plus years of development and design has positioned them to be the next best selling collectable and interchangeable bead and accompanying jewelry line on the market. Their history in the United States is only about 6 years long and it’s been an exciting and interesting path for Trollbeads U.S. and it’s just the beginning.
Morten Petersen, originally from Denmark and the head of Lund Trading Inc., a distributing company he founded in Maryland, brought this line from Denmark to distribute in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. At first the line was slow to grow here. Perhaps it was the representatives bringing it to market, or the market they were aiming for or maybe American women just weren’t ready for them. Each year the product was introduced to new venues and to new areas of the country and their growth became steady. Each year and with each growth level, the office at Lund Distributing was fine tuning its procedures to a more efficient level. A business that has steadily plodded its course, has just in the last year and a half, exploded on the American jewelry scene. Just recently the news is that November ’08, a month where everyone was debating on bailouts and relief packages or watching as houses were auctioned off, Trollbeads saw its highest single month increase ever. It was my understanding that in 2008, Lund has exceeded 2007 sales figures but to excel in a month that for others was so bleak, points to one very obvious fact. The collecting of Trollbeads is recession proof. It’s the small things that count when times are difficult and these beads have a humorous side and a highly spiritual side. What better combination could there be in times like these?
For the most part Trollbeads collectors are unique from other bead collectors and are comprised of many kinds of people. If you compare the two major bead lines and compare their collectors, you will find that Trollbeads attract a more sophisticated customer than Pandora or Chamelia brands. The inspiration for the designs in Trollbeads comes from flora and fauna, mythology, spirituality, fairy tales and cultural diversity. The motto for Trollbeads is “Every Story has a Bead”. The Trollbeads artists strive to create small intricate sculptures and the beauty or uniqueness is evident in every bead. This differs sharply from the other bead lines as it where it was the first interchangeable bead line on the market in Europe and was the inspiration of many lines since.
This next year will be an interesting one to follow with Trollbeads. I believe it will be another record breaker but keep in mind the competition has taken its gloves off. Pandora has given all of its retailers an ultimatum. Starting immediately, they must drop any and all competing brands of beads or be dropped by Pandora. I know of some stores that have had to keep Pandora, because it’s a broader line and they sell more dollar wise and have had to, very reluctantly, drop Trollbeads. As a dealer of Trollbeads I can tell already, from my point of view, this was a bad decision for Pandora. Even before the deadline occurred many customers entering my store were aware of the situation and had very negative feelings toward Pandora. Today the consumer is savvy and educated and they do their homework on anything of value they are considering to buy. When a company is purchased by a large conglomerate, as Pandora has been, the focus is only on the numbers and nothing else. There is no concern for what this ultimatum will mean to many of its stores. I know for a fact that if a store has carried both lines, they have done well with both lines. They support the sales of each other because many people collect both lines. Small retailers forced into dropping a line, such as Trollbeads, means cutting their revenue by a huge portion. In this economy it may be devastating to some small retailers. Read the news, it’s the large conglomerates that are bringing this country to its knees. Small businesses employ more people in this country and through no fault of their own, will be brought down by also.
It doesn’t take long to discover the differences in both of the company’s artistic and technical standards. It also doesn’t take long to understand the differences in management. I hear day after day, “My wife used to collect the other beads and now she is switching to Trollbeads.” Just yesterday I helped a couple of customers who also had Pandora beads, talk about Pandora and how difficult it is for stores to deal with the demands Pandora puts on the stores. Dealers who are holding on to their Pandora accounts are angry at the demands Pandora is making on them. Pandora is turning itself into the “bad guy” and should be worrying more about its image and less about the numbers and less about trying to be the only “like” brand in the store. Haven’t they ever heard that competition is a good thing?
Keeping in mind Pandora has forced a number of retailers to drop Trollbeads, I still believe 2009 will be another record breaking year for Trollbeads. The negativity produced by Pandora will mean that Trollbeads will fare better in the long run.

My absolute favorite silver Trollbead is the "Forget Me Not" bead introduced earlier this year. If you haven't considered one for your collection, do! It is great for texture and it has a unique shape and adds a lot to your bracelet.
It is available only in silver but I wanted to share this photograph with you and show you how beautiful it is in gold. This particular bead was created by Trollbeads for a special order in Denmark but by showing you this I hope to remind everyone how exquiste gold beads are and although they are a reach, every piece of Trollbeads jewelry should have at least one bead of gold! You deserve it!

I will also soon be listing a new group of Unique Amber Beads. These beads vary in size, color and shape and will combine to make great bracelets. Unique or Assorted Amber Beads are beads created by the Trollbeads artists in Denmark utilizing special tools and talents to sculpt raw natural amber into beautifully unique beads. They are not readily available and this is the first time I have sold the individual beads in a long time. If you would like to know more about Amber you can see a short movie produced by Trollbeads Denmark on the "Unique Amber" page of Trollbeads Gallery. It is fascinating to see how they make the beads.
There is unbelievable great news for TrollbeadsUS and I wanted to share it because because all of you have helped make it happen! Trollbeads Thoughts and Happy Birthday to Noah!
June 23, 2008Summer greetings from Trollbeads Gallery! So many of you have shared in prayers and thoughts for Noah, my grandson who was born with bilateral cateracts and who has had numerous surgeries as it developed into acute glaucoma. Today Noah turns one and he is in great shape. No surgery in his immediate future and he is loving working in his parents new jewelry store in Boulder,Colorado. This is Noah after a hard day at work. My son and his wife, Alex and Krista have opened "Starfish" and are waiting for their first shipment of Trollbeads! If you are ever in Boulder stop by! They are on Pearl Street and easily located.
The news in U.S. Trollbeads Land is that Trollbeads are gaining here by leaps and bounds in popularity. For the first part of the year business has increased over 350% for the same time last year. As a family owned and operated business, Trollbeads has continued to operate as a company we can trust and a company we can have faith in. The beads continue to be beautiful and plentiful and I can say that both Lund Trading and Trollbeads are wonderful organizations to do business with.
Trollstones have been the big introduction this year with an extremely limited supply offered to a limited amount of dealers. Trollbeads Gallery will be posting them very shortly so stay tuned.
You will soon be seeing brand new images of Trollbeads as more and more press is covering this phenomenal line. The new photographs are as exquisite as the beads are so keep your eyes out for some powerful sights.

Retired Trollbeads and the Mystery of Pricing
If you are a serious Trollbeads collector you have probably noticed that retired Trollbeads can be priced in very mysterious ways and range from extremely high to reasonable. The whole art of pricing is a vague field and if you haven't experienced any type of pricing in your life you may not understand why the prices are as they are.
To make it even more difficult, pricing items that are no longer available gets even trickier. The retail prices of current and available Trollbeads are set by the company but there are no guidelines for retired beads and therefore prices have a wide range. Unfortunately this variable tends to confuse rather then inspire the collectors to purchase.
Compare the prices from site to site and remember that although prices vary widely, there may be extenuating circumstances that create the differences.
The factors that go into TrollbeadsGallery.com's pricing, and I assume other Trollbeads site's pricing, are as follows:
Date of retirement (i.e. the earlier the more valuable)
Past availability
Current availability
Condition (are there scratches? etc.)
Popularity of the design and color
Quantity Retailer has on hand

New Unique Spring Bead Releases at TrollbeadsGallery.com
TrollbeadsGallery.com has over 200 new Unique Beads and can't wait to share them with you! We'll be adding them as we can. We just added quite a few last night. The staff photographer (that would be me) hasn't been able to find enough sun lately to do her thing but with spring here you'll be sure to see more and more Unique Beads listed. 
The Unique Beads are referred to as "unique" because they are either test beads the Trollbeads glass artisans have created to find new designs, or they are beads created for the line, but just don't quite fit the requirements of the bead they were attempting to create. In any fashion, they are all engaging and a real treat to see and to have.The orange one above is like nothing I have never had before, and it almost seems like I could lick the frosting off the bead!! It a really fabulous!!
As you know from past Unique Bead releases at TrollbeadsGallery.com, they go really fast; so be sure to take a peek as soon as you can! The last release numbered in the 90's and we got down to 30 in record time.

Please note that TrollbeadsGallery.com is not using the term "OOAK" or "One-of-a-Kind" because Lund Trading/TrollbeadsUS would prefer us to use the terms "limited beads" or Unique Beads when referring to them. Very few of them can actually be called "One-of-a-Kind."

Sharing our Trollbeads Photographs

Greetings! I have recently requested through an earlier blog and now through an email for you to kindly share with me your Trollbeads collection and send photos in any way, shape or form! To kick off the collection I have placed my most recent picture of Asher and Noah while they were patiently waiting in a restaurant last week in Boulder, Colorado. Now I know most people won't be sending photos like this but we had forgotten to bring anything for Noah to teeth on and I looked down at my Trollbeads bracelet and I knew what to do. First I went into the lavatory and ran hot water over it and then I handed it to Noah and I wish I had the camera ready when I did because his eyes lit up and they looked just like Trollbeads! Of course you know this doting grandmother stayed right with him while he was chomping and my daughter in law said to me "You don't have to worry, he'll be fine with that." Seconds later my son piped up and said "She's not worried about Noah, it's her Trollbeads she's watching so closely!"
